For the past 27 years, TEPHINET scientific conferences have provided participants with cutting-edge information on global disease detection, prevention, and response activities undertaken by our network of 90+ field epidemiology training programs (FETP) across more than 150 countries and territories. The 22,000+ FETP graduates in our network play a critical role in increasing global health security by fortifying their country’s capacity to detect and respond to disease outbreaks and other public health threats.
Our conferences serve as the premier global venue for FETP trainees and graduates, the “boots on the ground” in the fight against diseases, to share their work with international public health experts.
Our participants are passionate, dynamic “disease detectives” at the forefront of strengthening public health systems in their countries. TEPHINET conference attendees include FETP trainees, graduates, mentors, staff and resident advisors, and other public health professionals working as epidemiologists, veterinarians, physicians, nurses, laboratory scientists and technicians, environmental scientists and more.
The opportunity for FETP fellows and graduates to present their work, learn from global experts in the field and network are invaluable in nurturing future leaders, increase global health collaboration and build the capacity of public health systems and health surveillance in all countries.
A FIRST TIME PARTNERSHIP
For the first time, the 12th TEPHINET Scientific Conference will combine a traditional TEPHINET Scientific Conference and the Global Field Epidemiology Partnership (GFEP) Forum. The event theme is “Enhancing Field Epidemiology through Collaborative Surveillance.”
This event is a new configuration of the traditional TEPHINET Global Scientific Conference for Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs) and their residents/fellows, and for the first time will include a track that convenes a wide range of global health partners to strategize, coordinate, align, amplify, and strengthen field epidemiology capabilities.
The formation of GFEP in October 2023 revealed the need for broader participation of key stakeholders and topics that support FETP, and realizing this need, the conference brings together both the technical and strategic arms necessary to achieve the goals for field epidemiology capacity development.
This conference will give attendees an opportunity to engage with epidemiologists, laboratorians, data informaticians, and key partners from the global field epidemiology training program network and premier public health institutions who are at the forefront of novel and innovative field epidemiology, surveillance and emergency response. Meet, learn from, and get inspired by people from all over the world.
GFEP will have its own dedicated track during the conference. The agenda for the GFEP portion of the program is currently under development. Please stay tuned for further details and session information.
